Leading
Words Matter
-Why I am a ‘Learning Opportunity Facilitator’
As I set up my classroom at the start of the school year I placed the same poster on my door as I had many Septembers before, which announced to all that ‘You Are About to Enter a Learning Zone’.
As I set out to get ‘REAL’ with my students and myself, I started to examine and question my role in this learning zone that I sought to create. Since I believe that the words we use matter I looked at the definitions of what I had been identifying myself as.
First, teacher.
Next, educator.
Finally, leader.
None of these words adequately described the role I feel I need to play to ensure achievement success for each of my students.
