Authenticity
Why are we doing this?
As I choose to make teaching and learning visible within my classroom, I will be deconstructing how elements of get REAL apply to the students. I think the Authenticity element will be the most challenging since it requires me to answer the question, ‘why are we doing this?’ If I am honest with myself, and reflect on my past lessons, I think that too often I would have needed to state the following responses.
- it is in the curriculum
- you need to be prepared for EQAO
- it will prepare you for the future
- because I said so….
If my goal is to get REAL and promote this concept within my classroom then I must continue to challenge myself and ask, ‘why are we doing this?’.
